Philosophy and Approach
I believe therapy is most effective when it is supplemented with a person-centered approach, one that includes optimism and promotes wellness, personal growth as well as reaching one’s full potential. Ultimately, it is aligned with my belief that children are strong, capable and hold the answer to their own difficulties. Sometimes they just need a little encouragement. Through affirmation and empowerment, children become more confident and in turn, resourceful and able to tackle life’s challenges.
I also utilize interventions based upon the principles of learning theory to improve negative behaviors and improve skill building to a meaningful degree. These particular interventions utilize positive reinforcement and can be beneficial for a range of symptoms including those associated with Autism or forms of trauma.
